In a bold move that’s set to redefine maritime living, Dutch Design has unveiled its inaugural project, the 42.5-metre Sea Rover. This visionary vessel, part of a limited series of just ten, stands as a testament to the collaboration between yacht owner Scott Blum and renowned designer Bernd Weel, both of whom prioritize wellness and lifestyle in their design ethos.
Constructed with steel and aluminum, the Sea Rover distinguishes itself as the world's only wellness-first yacht. Its exterior boasts expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, while the interior draws inspiration from minimalist aesthetics reminiscent of California. Conceived by Blum, a yacht aficionado who sought a seafaring experience in harmony with a balanced lifestyle, this vessel is crafted for an owner who thrives on activity and wellness.
The journey to design the Sea Rover was meticulous and iterative, as Weel explains, with a focus on timeless elegance and superior functionality. The concept was to distill the grandeur associated with 300-foot megayachts into a more intimate configuration without sacrificing any of the luxury or experience.
Among the innovative features, the Sea Rover’s spa, gym, and sport court are strategically located on the bridge deck, offering panoramic sea views. The yacht includes provisions for toys, tenders, and even a car, with a convertible beach club that extends to a swimming platform. Enhancing social interaction, the galley and dining room are positioned to facilitate engagement between guests and crew, framed by large glass panels for stunning vistas.
Accommodations are generous, with the main suite, four guest cabins, and quarters for nine crew members, plus a separate captain's cabin. In alignment with Blum’s philosophy, crew accommodations match the opulence of the guest quarters. A standout aspect is the transparency of the engine room and wheelhouse, each an integral part of the onboard ambiance, with LED lighting that highlights premium components.
