Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Highlights by YachtWay News
Spectacular Marine in Fort Lauderdale
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is a must-attend event for maritime enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. This year, the show is set to be grander than ever, spanning nearly 90 acres across three million square feet of exhibit space, and featuring over 1,300 boats and 1,000 exhibitors from 52 countries. From the latest in superyacht design to the finest marine accessories, FLIBS promises an unparalleled showcase of the best the boating world has to offer.
Economic Juggernaut
FLIBS is not just a celebration of maritime culture; it’s also a significant economic driver. In 2022, the show generated a whopping $1.79 billion in economic output throughout Florida. This included $709.7 million in estimated sales by Florida-based companies, contributing significantly to the local economy. The event also produced $85.8 million in state and local taxes, with $24.5 million going directly to Broward County. The influx of over 100,000 visitors, almost half of whom came from outside Florida, resulted in an estimated $47.3 million in expenditures.
Sustainability and Innovation
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is pioneering sustainability in the marine event industry. FLIBS 2023 aims to be a dynamic platform for change, setting new standards for environmental responsibility. The show’s “Faster to Zero” commitment propels its ambition to become a zero-waste and net-zero carbon entity by 2030, aligning with global environmental objectives. The show will also source its energy from renewable sources, significantly reducing its carbon emissions.
