De Antonio D42 Open Video Review: Where Are the Engines?
By the YachtWay editorial deskUpdated October 2026Video walkthrough7 min read
The De Antonio D42 Open hides her outboards under the aft sunbed, so the deck looks clean from every angle. We walked one at De Antonio's service and design centre in Miami. This boat has triple Mercury 400 outboards, a flush deck with no steps, a U-shaped dining area with a galley and a glass roof over the cockpit. Below deck there is a dry head, an owner's cabin and a lounge.
The engines are under the sunbed
Push a button and the whole aft sunbed lifts to show the outboards. With the hatch open you can trim them right up, so the props stay out of the water at anchor or in the marina. We were told the engines do not overheat in the enclosure. The rest of the boat is about space: a deep storage locker, a U-shaped dining area and a flush walk to the bow.

The D42 Open answers the question in its own title. The outboards disappear under the sunbed, the deck is flush and clean, and the cockpit is built for a crowd with a galley and dining for six. Below deck there is more than you expect on a dayboat: a dry head with a shower, an owner's cabin and a lounge. Triple Mercury 400s give her plenty of power for a run to Bimini.
