Tesoro T40 GTS Video Review: An Outdoor TV and 31 Knots in a Chop

By the YachtWay editorial deskUpdated October 2026Video walkthrough8 min read

The Tesoro T40 GTS is a 40 ft dayboat built in Spain, on a newly redesigned hull. This one has twin Mercury 425 V10 outboards, 850 hp in all. We walked a brand new boat in Miami, from the hydraulic swim platform to the separate shower below. A TV rises from the cockpit, a coffee station pops up next to the helm and there are two cabins below. Then we took her out into a 2 to 3 ft chop, where she ran at 26 knots into the waves and 31 knots with them, with no banging and no spray.

A lot of boat packed into 40 ft

We started at the stern, where the hydraulic swim platform lowers into the water and the twin V10s sit behind a sunbed with a movable backrest. The cockpit has a table on an electric column, a TV that rises from a lid and a coffee station by the helm. Below deck the redesigned hull has long side windows, so both cabins get daylight. We only planned to film some running shots, but the chop was so good we drove her ourselves.

What stood out on board

  • An outdoor TV
Push a button and a TV rises from a lid in the cockpit. We have not seen that on a European dayboat before.
  • A coffee station by the helm
A Nespresso machine and branded cups rise from the counter at the push of a button.
  • 31 knots in a 3 ft chop
On our sea trial off Miami she ran at 26 knots into the waves and 31 knots with them, with no banging.
  • A dry ride
No spray came over the tall windshield, and nothing rattled below deck.
  • A separate shower on a 40-footer
The head has marble walls and a shower behind its own door, with room for a 6 ft 2 in adult.
  • A touchscreen TV in the cabin
It looks like a mirror when off, and works like a tablet when on.

Swim platform and aft sunbed

The hydraulic swim platform and the twin V10s. 01:10

Sea trial off Miami

At the helm in a 2 to 3 ft chop off Miami. 18:50

We had planned only to shoot running footage, but with a 2 to 3 ft chop outside we drove her ourselves. Nothing came loose below deck.

  • Planing.
On the plane by 15 knots.
  • Into the waves.
26 knots with no banging and no spray.
  • With the waves.
29 to 31 knots (36 mph) without dipping the bow.
  • Hardtop.
    Stayed solid the whole run.
The verdict

The T40 GTS packs a lot into 40 ft. The TV in the cockpit, the coffee station by the helm and the table that turns into a sunbed make the deck work at anchor. Below, two cabins and a separate shower with marble walls are rare at this size. On our sea trial she ran at 31 knots through a 3 ft chop with no banging and no spray, and nothing moved below deck. If you are shopping for a boat around 40 ft, put this one on your list.
